Located
in Lembongan Island, Klungkung Regency. If you are from Denpasar, you can go
through the port in Sanur, using fast boat, it takes around 35-45 minutes to
get to Nusa Lembongan, but if you come from Klungkung you can get through the
Klungkung Kusamba port use jukung (slow boat). And will arrive at Tanjung
Sanghyang Beach. From Tanjung Sanghyang Beach to the Gala Gala under ground
house just need 7 minutes by motorcycle.The entrance fee is IDR 20,000/ pax for
local guest, for international guest around IDR 50,000/pax. Due to me from
Lembongan Island so i don’t need to pay entrance fee. Before you can enter the
ground house you must use shawl and scarf. Gala Gala underground made for 15 years start from 1961 until 1976 by Mangku Byasa house has 3 entrance
holes from total 7 holes, 7 meters deep and a height of a structure 1 to 2
meters.
Gala - Gala Underground house was made and became the residence of an ascetic named Made Byasa which was made for 15 years from 1961 - 1976 with simple equipment namely crowbar and making caves in limestone burrows on Nusa Lembongan Island, Klungkung Regency, Bali. In making use of a lot of cow manure which is burned so that limestone is easily excavated and used as a place to live. Made Byasa's work is a mastermind mangku, a farmer and also a hermit.
Made Byasa was inspired by the Mahabrata Hindu puppet story in the episode "Wana Parwa" which is the life of the Pandavas who were on the run from the Kurawa forces because they felt insecure and made a special sanctuary to build a cave made of gala / asphalt called Gala - Gala. Because Made Byasa's work was also a puppeteer and used to be imprisoned, Made Byasa inspired this Mahabarata story and built a cave to realize his dream. In 1984 at the age of 95, Made Byasa died in his underground house. In the Gala - Gala Cave there is also a relief for the completion of the Gala Cave. There are symbols such as humans, elephants, gates, and turtles in the Hindu calendar meaning 1898 in the year Saka or in the general calendar of 1976, the year when the Gala - Gala Under Ground was completed.
There are several passages that are shorter than the size of an adult so that when entering must be slightly lowered. One hole to another is connected, so it’s not hard to find a way out. In this under ground house you will see the unexpected view, you can see the parts of the house like a living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining room, and also meditation room. When i visited here i didn’t have time to take photos due to i really enjoyed my time there, so i took a picture in my friend’s photo.
The light was
already there but in some parts it was still a little dark because it was not
full yet.But be careful if you want to go down because the stairs are slippery
and the distance from one ladder to another is quite far. It’s better to bring
a flashlight. You don't need to worry about this under ground house having good
air circulation, even though you are long in the under ground house you can
still breathe the air well.
